Melasma

Melasma is a dark skin discoloration, most commonly found on sun exposed areas of the face. Melasma is associated with the female hormones of estrogen and progesterone and therefore is common in pregnancy (pregnancy mask), with oral contraceptive use and sometimes with hormone replacement therapy. It is more common in females with brown skin tones.

  • Worse with sun exposure
