Wellness Exams

You probably have a sense that you should visit the doctor on a regular basis for a checkup. But do you know what that checkup should include? Are you confident that an annual visit is giving your doctor a clear picture of your overall health? If you can’t confidently answer yes, it’s time for a wellness exam at Boat Club Medical Spa.

Jerry Davis, DO, and Kasey Murphy, PA-C, offer comprehensive, personalized wellness exams. Schedule yours by calling their Fort Worth, Texas, office or booking your appointment online.

What are wellness exams?

A wellness exam is another name for a checkup. With these exams, your Boat Club Medical Spa provider can assess your general health, screen you for diseases, and offer recommendations that improve your well-being.

Regular, comprehensive screenings allow providers to catch diseases in their earliest phases when they’re easiest to treat. Dr. Davis and Kasey are dedicated to disease prevention and early disease detection in order to help you look and feel your very best.

What should I expect during a wellness exam?

At Boat Club Medical Spa, each exam is tailored to that individual. You will talk with Dr. Davis or Kasey about your personal and family health history, and complete a vision and hearing screening. Lab tests may also be requested to check health markers and look for vitamin deficiencies. Beyond that, the additional components of the exam will be tailored to you.

Other tests that may be a part of your wellness exam include:

Baseline Electrocardiogram (EKG)

This test measures the electrical activity of your heartbeat, enabling screening for any potential health challenges and providing the Boat Club Medical Spa team with a record they can use to assess your heart health year after year.

Spirometry Testing

If you’re a smoker or you used to smoke, your provider may recommend this test to check for lung diseases.

Allergy Testing

With a simple in-office skin test, the allergy experts at Boat Club Medical Spa can identify your allergies so you can know what’s triggering allergic reactions, whether that’s food, environmental allergens, or pet dander.

Pharmacogenetics Medication Testing

With this test, your provider can determine if you have certain genes that would cause an adverse reaction to certain medications. This minimizes your risk of side effects and helps them prescribe the right medication for your needs.

How often should I get a wellness exam?

These exams are most effective when performed on an annual basis. That way, your provider has a regular opportunity to detect any changes in your body and screen you for any diseases for which you may be at risk.
